BADABUM-TAH! < failed theme song ):
My name's Andrew Yong Zhen Ning, and I'm 16(2011). I am a ballroom dancer and a beatboxer- oh, and yeah, I'm also a student. And I used to look like this:
That's one hell of a picture.
Taken immediately after PMR.
So yeah, I used to have crooked and uneven teeth, and my parents won't bring me to the orthodontist due to the trouble it poses. Until recently, when the raging debate about my teeth finally comes to a conclusion, my parents finally give in and decided to allow me to wear braces.
YAY.
God, did I make the wrong decision.
Thus, begins my journey into the brace face realm, visiting dentists and such, fortunately, unlike most of the patients, I did not have to extract any teeth; and just 6 days before this blog was created, the dentist put on these 'separator' bands in between my teeth. That, didn't give me a good impression of the upcoming braces. My teeth started to ache, I can't chew nor close my jaw entirely, it was basically hell in your mouth. However, that didn't give me any doubts about getting my braces, I've always wanted a 'normal' set of teeth, one which doesn't make me look like a barbaric warrior that goes 'ugaga', and I hated how people kept asking me when I'm getting my braces.
My diet was simple: 1.shove food into mouth, 2.swallow, repeat step (1) I began to miss the feeling of chewing all the good food, instead of swallowing spoon after spoonful of rice with soup and shredded pieces of meat and veggie. However, my will was still firm and strong, I'm getting my braces, and I'm willing to suffer the next 2 years. Bold, heroic and handsome? Not quite.
I'm going to fast-forward my progress so I won't bore you readers, so.... YESTERDAY, I finally got my braces. I woke up to a dark a stormy morning, with Japan still struggling with the aftermath of the natural disasters and radiation(with here I would like to give my deepest condolence to em Japanese), I set off with my dad to the orthodontist. Honestly, I was feeling nervous, strangely not because of the pain it creates, nor the torturous, binding feeling upon your teeth, but more towards the disability to enjoy good food. Imagine, for the next 2weeks, and the next consecutive 1week of every attempts to tighten the braces, I can't eat properly; and based on previous observations, with the diet I currently have, I'll end up laughing like a jackass while I waste my remaining last bit of energy away. Yikes.
So, anyway, the process of putting up braces was an hour and half long. I went into the room and the assistant handed me this chain of colourful plastic keys, and asked me to pick a colour. Still unable to decide for my colour, the started off by putting on the braces, the process was long and 'sour' with all the acidic substance used to clean the teeth, and towards the end, I chose purple for the bands of my braces. Quest Crew :D
Thus, begins my brace face journey, which concludes the reason why I started this blog - Brace face Days. This blog is an online journal about the experience I get from the day I receive my braces until the final day where I receive my retainers.I also think the title has a catch to it, no? Brace Face Days? Come'on, say it with me!
BRACE FACE DAYS!
:D
FIN.
