Day 10 - 25.3.11 Friday

IT'S FRIDAY!

And no, I wasn't singing Rebecca Black's Friday.

So it's been slightly more than a week since I last put on braces, nothing changed yet, no pain whatsoever. However, when you put on your braces during a week of holidays and return back to school in the next, there will be people that you smile to that goes " OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG, braces!" And they'll start coming at you and asking you to smile as if your teeth is some sort of freak of nature.

Anyway, went for Taekwando today, fortunately no accidents, but I did get slapped by Nat(sigh, again) without realizing I have braces on, which gave her a jaw dropping expression. Ahh, Nat (Y). Sadly, that's about it, nothing much happened in the past 5 days, got my results though, 80 for Physics, yo :P Let's not talk about the rest, so yeah. Bye! :D

Note to self: Eating noodles are way troublesome than rice.

Day 5 - 20.3.11 Sunday

There was no super moon today.

):

I woke up 15minutes before 3 in the morning, just to witness the super moon, since y'know, we have the longitude as Beijing and they're experiencing the super moon at 3 in the morning? But there was nothing! See, I had a picture in my mind where I see the moon in orange, and coincidentally, all the street lights were on that morning, and everywhere I looked, there's always that orange moon. With much dedication of searching for the once-in-twenty-years celestial event, I went back to bed after 5minutes of relentless search. Pretty dedicated, huh?

Yeah. Oh, and one thing I realized, after putting on braces, I have a habit of opening my mouth like a retard, like that Chinese guy on the right. And every night when I'm sound asleep, my jaw gets tired and starts to flex, thus sending my teeth in an inevitable crash course, and bam, I'm wide awake, groaning in agony.

Anyway, that's it for today. I'm so sorry this isn't as interesting as you(or maybe it's just me) anticipated it to be, it's not everyday something interesting happens to your braces y'know? However, I'll still try, to make this as entertaining to you as possible. For now, see ya!

To my future child/children:

I hope you don't inherit my teeth, it sucks. Thanks

Day 4 19.3.11 Saturday

So, yesterday, I went for badminton, and well, I came back with my braces in-tact.

Fortunately.

Nothing much to elaborate from that, really. I was just trying hard not to team up with anyone, just for precaution that they might hit me with their racket. However, one thing I do realize recently is that people constantly forget about the fact that I can't take regular food of that sort.

Situation 1
Sis: Hey, wanna come with me to Subang tomorrow so we can have awesome wantan mee?
Me: *stares*
Sis: ......what?
Me: I can't eat that.
Sis. .......why?

Situation 2
Dad: Have you tried the new Mega Mac?
Sis: Nawwww.
Dad: Oh? Why so?
Sis: It's too big, maybe you can treat Andrew to- Oh wait, yeah....

Yeah. Sucks.

Now that I have my braces on, there are a few things that I realized that I can not do, such as:

  • B-boying
  • Beatboxing
  • B-boying and beatboxing at the same time- Wait, is that even possible without braces?
  • Talking properly without spitting nor drooling
So, to conclude today's post, I'm going to remind you to look up to the heavens tonight because, as they say, tonight's full moon would be larger than usual. I hope it doesn't affect braces though. Anyway, I have to go prepare for literature class later, do hope nothing happens though, what, William Shakespeare's gonna come back to life and slam me in the braces with Romeo and Juliet?

Day 3 - 18.3.11, Friday

Confession time:

This blog isn't really my idea, my sister was so excited for my braces she kind of forced me into writing it, but I do admit I am rather interested in writing this sorta online journal thing. Think about it, 3months time, I'll be the next iCarly! More like iAndrew....... Nahh.

Today's the third day I had my braces on, and here's a disappointing news to all you sadistic freaks out there, it doesn't hurt at all. Well, maybe a little bit, when my teeth meet. And now I just jinxed it. Eating's not really a problem (damn it, why do I keep jinxing things?!), as long as there's gravy to my rice, and soft/shredded food, it's alright. And onto my teeth brushing skills, now this one hurts. Whenever the toothbrush brushes pass the front teeth, it hurts like your mother- never mind that. Moreover, I have to pay extra attention in brushing my teeth, with the 45degree angle and shiz, this is the hard and concerning part coming from a guy who does not brush his teeth as carefully as this lady :
...Yeah.

So as I'm typing this right now, at this very moment, I'l shoving rice into my mouth, with the help of curry, that is. Yes, mom, I'll remember to brush afterwards, sheesh. Anyway, shall end this post of the day by saying, thank you for reading. I mean seriously, who reads about the chronicles of a guy's braces? So, do continue with your life after reading this, and don't forget to check out about the next post soon! I'll try to upload some pictures or videos if I have any, just for your entertainment's sake. Seeya!

Happy brushing (:

Prologue

OK, before we start, I'd like to give myself a lil introduction, just for the fun of it.

BADABUM-TAH! < failed theme song ):

My name's Andrew Yong Zhen Ning, and I'm 16(2011). I am a ballroom dancer and a beatboxer- oh, and yeah, I'm also a student. And I used to look like this:

That's one hell of a picture.
Taken immediately after PMR.

So yeah, I used to have crooked and uneven teeth, and my parents won't bring me to the orthodontist due to the trouble it poses. Until recently, when the raging debate about my teeth finally comes to a conclusion, my parents finally give in and decided to allow me to wear braces.

YAY.

God, did I make the wrong decision.

Thus, begins my journey into the brace face realm, visiting dentists and such, fortunately, unlike most of the patients, I did not have to extract any teeth; and just 6 days before this blog was created, the dentist put on these 'separator' bands in between my teeth. That, didn't give me a good impression of the upcoming braces. My teeth started to ache, I can't chew nor close my jaw entirely, it was basically hell in your mouth. However, that didn't give me any doubts about getting my braces, I've always wanted a 'normal' set of teeth, one which doesn't make me look like a barbaric warrior that goes 'ugaga', and I hated how people kept asking me when I'm getting my braces.

My diet was simple: 1.shove food into mouth, 2.swallow, repeat step (1) I began to miss the feeling of chewing all the good food, instead of swallowing spoon after spoonful of rice with soup and shredded pieces of meat and veggie. However, my will was still firm and strong, I'm getting my braces, and I'm willing to suffer the next 2 years. Bold, heroic and handsome? Not quite.

I'm going to fast-forward my progress so I won't bore you readers, so.... YESTERDAY, I finally got my braces. I woke up to a dark a stormy morning, with Japan still struggling with the aftermath of the natural disasters and radiation(with here I would like to give my deepest condolence to em Japanese), I set off with my dad to the orthodontist. Honestly, I was feeling nervous, strangely not because of the pain it creates, nor the torturous, binding feeling upon your teeth, but more towards the disability to enjoy good food. Imagine, for the next 2weeks, and the next consecutive 1week of every attempts to tighten the braces, I can't eat properly; and based on previous observations, with the diet I currently have, I'll end up laughing like a jackass while I waste my remaining last bit of energy away. Yikes.

So, anyway, the process of putting up braces was an hour and half long. I went into the room and the assistant handed me this chain of colourful plastic keys, and asked me to pick a colour. Still unable to decide for my colour, the started off by putting on the braces, the process was long and 'sour' with all the acidic substance used to clean the teeth, and towards the end, I chose purple for the bands of my braces. Quest Crew :D

Thus, begins my brace face journey, which concludes the reason why I started this blog - Brace face Days. This blog is an online journal about the experience I get from the day I receive my braces until the final day where I receive my retainers.I also think the title has a catch to it, no? Brace Face Days? Come'on, say it with me!

BRACE FACE DAYS!
